How can I prepare the way for Christ in my Marriage?

If you are here, you might be yearning to build a Christ-centered home. And as a young wife, you might be experiencing the fear of failure in establishing a Christian Home. I don’t know what you are going through right now, but all I can say is there is a God who knows your deepest hurts and regrets. When I think about the days before my marriage, I could tell in one word; it was just “AWESOME.” I felt life was simple because I had my lovely parents to depend. And even though I married my best friend, I never thought I could take it lightly.

Why should we never take marriage lightly?

  1. Marriage is ordained by God. (Genesis 2:22-24)

  2. Marriage is a covenant relationship. (Malachi 2:14-15)

  3. Marriage life should resemble to the love of Christ to the Church and the obedience of Church to Christ. (Ephesians 5:25-33)

So, Is Marriage Hard???

Marriage is never hard if you have Christ in your midst.

One of the most beautiful verses that I love so much- “Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.” (Ecclesiastes 4:12)

Marriage could turn as a burden if you miss the love of Christ in your lives, and thousands of marriages are failing because of this one single reason.

Are you bored hearing this? Let me tell you a story.

” There was a young lady who loved the Lord and dreamed about a beautiful married life filled with joy and peace. She thought life was simple, and she could be the best wife ever. She thought she would happily serve her husband, and find joy in their life. And finally, she got married to the love of her life. But the story didn’t turn out as she imagined. She found her lacking the love of Christ in her life. Even though God blessed her with a loving husband, she found her struggling to submit to the authority God placed over her. And she struggled, and struggled, and struggled. And one fine day, she decided to stop fighting back to the authority God has placed over her. She knelt down and prayed, meditated on the scriptural references on submission, sought the grace of the Lord, and exercised it. “

So, how the story might have ended? This story is about my life and the testimony on how God changed my marriage life when I decided to obey the word of the Lord regarding “Submission”.

What does the bible say about Submission in Marriage?

“Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord.” (Ephesians 5:21-22)

As the children of the Almighty God, we should never allow the deceiver to sow the seeds of bitterness in our family lives and take away the happiness. As Christian women, we are the warriors of Christ to fight for our family, our children against the evil tactics of the deceiver.

My prayer for all the young ladies who struggle to build a Christian home is only to obey the word of Lord, in faith, waiting for His time to reap the harvest in your family lives.

Psalm 128 is one of my favorites as it points towards the blessing on a man who obeys the word of the Lord.

“Blessed are all who fear the Lord, who walk in obedience to him.

You will eat the fruit of your labor; blessings and prosperity will be yours.

Your wife will be like a fruitful vine within your house;

your children will be like olive shoots around your table.

Yes, this will be the blessing for the man who fears the Lord.” (Psalm 128:1-4)

Practical tips to build Godly Homes

  • The Let Go Attitude

Even though our husbands should love us as Christ loved the Church, we should never forget that even they are struggling to obey the word of the God, the same way we struggle. Always encourage them, forgive them, and help them to be the man God desires.

  • Say No to Nagging

Better to live in a desert than with a quarrelsome and nagging wife. (Proverbs 21:19)

  • Pray together

“Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.” (Mathew 18:19-20)

  • Submission

Obeying the Lord is submitting to His will on our lives. And as Christian wives, we need to acknowledge the authority God has placed over us.

  • Appreciate and Respect

Men love to be appreciated and respected. The more you encourage his efforts, the more you acknowledge his leadership, the more you gain his love. Never tease or show the disrespectful attitude towards your husband especially when you are with others.

  • Humble Confrontation

As we know no one is perfect, there are chances that sometimes we find our husbands doing things that we hate. Even at that time, a humble confrontation would work great rather than a sequence of fights.

  • Be there for Him

As wives, our first and foremost priority after Christ is our husband. Give him space when he needs, give him love when he looks for it, and always make him feel you are there to offer the best for him.
